Charlie Brown talks about the 'true meaning of Christmas' (VIDEO)

Remember when it was okay to talk about what the holiday of Christmas is actually based upon? Sounds crazy to talk about nowadays, but it used to actually be totally cool to discuss it publicly.

Look, I'm not trying to go all Bill O'Reilly on you. I don't really think the holiday is under attack and, generally speaking, most people won't pitch a fit if you talk about the virgin birth on Christmas.

That said, it's a little wild to me that a mainstream Christmas special was this bold.

Call me sentimental, but these were the good 'ol days.

How does this video make you feel?

  1. Totally agreed. You know it first came out in 1965. Kind of explains it. But I was glad to see the message still makes it to the TV waves.

  3. THANK YOU, Charles Schultz, (RIP) for taking a stand way back in 1965. You said, "Nope, you are not going to take out Luke 2!".

This video makes me want to punch Lucy right in her face!!!  I love Charlie Brown! And I love Linus! That sweet little voice reading from the bible. It really does make me cry when I listen to him read this. These were real little children doing the voices. His little lisp. How sweet, sweet, sweet!

Then he goes back to Charlie Brown and says, "That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown!"   :)
Let's remember that!  Before we get caught up in all the trappings. Or as Charlie Brown says, "commercialism"!  Good for you Charlie Brown!
