When Someone Tells You They Read Your Blog

Mitch Hedberg was one of my favorite comedians of all time. Tragically, he died way too early. However, one of my favorite bits that he did was in regard to someone who told him that they saw him on TV.

The gist of the bit is that the random stranger told Mitch that he'd seen him on The Craig Kilborn Show (R.I.P.), but he didn't say if he thought he was good or not. He merely confirmed that the appearance happened. (If you want to listen to Mitch tell the joke himself, click HERE, but stop listening after the 0:25 mark if you don't want to hear swearing.)

I feel that way when people tell me, "I read your blog." ("Read" being in the past tense.)

It happens a lot, in real life. It's weird. It's like they're letting me know that they know I live some kind of mysterious double life on the internet, but my secret is safe with them.

I don't know what to say. It's awkward. I usually just say, "Oh, great," then I walk away.

At any rate, this has been a record high traffic week for TheIsleofMan.Net. I guess I'm doing something right. Either way, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has read, commented on, and/or shared my blog posts via social networking mediums.

It means a lot to me. I'll continue to try and live up to it.

You can help me do that by providing feedback. Some of you check in sporadically. Some regularly. Some daily.

Why?

Why do you read this blog? What do you like? Are there things about this blog you dislike? What could I do more of to make this site feel more comfortable for you? What could I do less of?

I welcome your feedback!
